Pendulum Baku
3 Digitally printed Sharks tooth gauze panels 2.1m x 2.1m attached to a timber and steel framework for an exhibit called “Pendulum” in Baku to depict the use of photography and electric light with a pendulum swing.

The Mona Lisa 46ft high easel displaying a giant mosaic composed of 84 images submitted by entrants to the “National Portrait Artist” of the year competition on Clapham The canvas was 85 times bigger than the original portrait and took multimedia artist Quentin Devine a week to create.

A fascinating series of public works were displayed Market Street, Torquay. The sizes of the images on the building were 4m x 4m, 4m x 1.6m, 3m x 3m and 7.5m x 4m. The other ‘see-through’ panels combine old famous views with images from now – a ‘Then and Now’.

David Harbott was appointed by the Kinson Hub working with the communities of Kinson to get their views on what is special and unique about Kinson. Rutters printed the finished artwork onto 27 x Dibond Aluminium composite panels which were then screwed onto a timber frame, mounted on an external wall, to form one 6.2 x 10.5 metre giant mural.

This public artwork by Kathryn Ensall was to cover the end of an unsightly block of flats with a work that echoed the history of the Huddersfield area and gave a sense of respect and homage to the city’s past. Printed on front-lit VCP and stretched onto an aluminium frame fixed to the brickwork.

It may only take a few moments for a work of art to have quite a profound effect upon an individual but to instill a response that is both immediate and full of communal interest from a piece of work that is in a public space has been the privilege primarily of three dimensional art such as that by Henry Moore whose figures always intrigue or of massive public pieces like the Angel of the North, designed and built for maximum effect.
